I'm going to be nitpicky for a moment, but it's intended as a clarification,
not a criticism. Adena, please don't be offended.
The wording " As for dressing up, that is always a good idea" implies that
wearing garb is not a requirement, but an encouraged option. If someone were
to take it that way, and come to an SCA event assuming that they could
participate without wearing garb, they would be incorrect. There are 3 rules
for attending an SCA event:
1) Wear an attempt at clothing from before 1600 (note the word "attempt"; it
does not have to be perfect or, as Adena rightly pointed out, fancy)
2) Pay your site fee
and 3) Behave as a lady or gentleman.
