The plant is not native to North America, and pretty much the only area that does have it is the eastern Med. Also, it seems that the leaves are used for oil extraction, more so than the berries, it while used in cooking, it is also used for soap making (for scent I guess). What are you making that requires so much?

The next site is a place where you can buy the plant or the seeds, whatever
        you wish.

I have only found a bottle of oil for $10. The plant is the closet I've
come to finding the berries besides reading about them and that was very
informative. The last website is what I learned about the Laurel Fruit.

        I hope something here helps.
        Have a great day!

Oh, I would LOVE to grow my own, but I don't have a yard. Thank you, though. Definitely something to keep on file for when "someday" comes and I can buy a house! I think I'll check out the site for buying the oil, though.

Or you go to an SCA event, find a bunch of people who are really good at
A&S, grab the ones with medallions around their necks, and stuff them
into a press to make Laurel oil. They tend to squeal a lot when you do
this, though, so you might want earplugs.

Not safe to read while drinking a hot beverage!!!! ;)

Now, I will point out that the *reason* people think we taste like
chicken can be found in that recipe. You start with 500g of Pelican,
then add 600mL of chicken stock. Well....duh! You've completely covered
                up the natural Pelican flavor!

C'mon, people, show some respect! At least have the decency to cook us
                *properly*. :P
