      For what time period and location? Very few things were true
      throughout all of the time period and the wide range of cultures that
      the SCA covers. Often not even consistently within a single culture.

      The attitudes toward prostitution also varied quite a lot in period.
      Often it was considered a necessary evil and at times the Church made
      a lot of money running brothels.
