As another with history, I was not suggesting you not accept a
gift, any gift, given in good faith... I would say however, just
what you have here; "Thank you, It is lovely(or whatever), but as
you know I am ....., so I am going to pass it along to someone for
whom it is not a concern, I hope you do not mind?"
My intent is that one should consider the recipeint carefully, and
NOT give a gift that CAUSES ( or has potential to cause) harm. Some
may not know, and I do not give gifts that suggest certain habits
for this reason...
