- The only fabrics I ever hear mentioned are silk, linen and wool. But I
was just reading about the manuscript Cleriadus et Meliadice that was
supposed to described lavish court dress of the 1440's with pictures
portraying average fashions of c. 1470. Several dresses are described
as being made of satin or velvet. No one ever mentions making dresses
of these -- were they only for royalty (Meliadice was the daughter of
Mary aka Vivien
- I used the 5.3 ounce weight for dresses and tunics.
