      greetings
im working on a project and have reached a bit of an
impass that i was hoping someone could shine light
      upon.
i wanted to get a feel for the strength, construction,
and durabilty of various japanese mail styles using
variousring sizes and guages of steel. im working with
20 ga currently. The sizes i am using are 1/8" or
3/16" for the round rings and two 1/8" rods for the
ovals. im trying each pattern with single and double
rings for both the round and oval rings seperately and
together. Im skipping the solid rings punched out for
now. Here is where i run into some difficulty. i also
wanted to try the "spiral" (two revolutions of the
spindle style). They were actualy not a problem to
make. what i cant rember is if that construction was
done seprately with both parts round and oval?? and
did they ever use that construction with both at the
      same time?

btw both spiraled is surprisingly strong even at 20ga

i checked the books i have out, but it appears fate
has put all my books with good closeups temporarily in
a box buried in the garage. the pictures i have are
all to distant to tell the difference between the
      double and spiral constructions.

can any one shed some light on this???
