Well, the general geography was pretty much the same, I believe. But you
probably want political, and I don't think I can help you there.
As for more information, there is some out there.

different pre-Nara costumes (actually, that link will have a collection of
outfits up to the end of the Nara period; that's the last list of
characters on the left). I'm not sure if you can read the Japanese or
