What kind of detailing do you mean? Usually they were plain, but I have seen
'roped' or etched models in really high-end armours. That kind of thing is
probably not the kind of detail you'd want to have on combat-quality armour.

That's what I've done in the past. I'd recommend a smaller crest, as well, so
it won't catch swords. A small disc a few inches in diameter with your mon
painted on it, for example.
