      Noble Cousins!

Greetings from Solveig! Since the subject of movies came up, I
absolutely have to tell everyone here that boxed sets of portions of
the Otoko wa Tsurai yo! series will start coming out in North America
(REGION 1) later this Autumn. Incidentally, you don't really need to
follow the dialogue to know what is going on. The movies came out
every Obon and every New Year season which are holidays when Japanese
traditionally return home. The movie consists of the main character
returning to his home town, Shibamata, which was and probably still
is a working class suburb of Tokyo. His sister operates the family
candy store and her husband works in a small factory next door.
Torasan always calls the company president (who routinely shows up in
the candy shop) octopus , because he has a bald head and pursed lips
which makes him look like a Japanese cartoon depiction of an octopus.
Anyway, Torasan falls in love, something goes wrong, and he hits the
road at the end of the movie. While not at home, he sells trinkets at
festivals and in front of temples and shrines. This is probably the
longest running series of movies ever. Eat your heart out James Bond.
