"Legal" status of households in the SCA
- Noble Cousins!
Greetings from Solveig! Technically, households are not SCA chapters
and are therefore not part of the SCA organization. You probably
don't want them to be officially part of the organization as this
usually requires quarterly reports. The College of Arms allows
individuals to register names and armory for private households,
guilds, &c. You can also register a heraldic will in case of your
departure from the Society which will transfer these registrations to
Some territorial groups provide for creating guilds and similar
organizations which typically pursue some specific study or activity.
In this case, the name and armory are registered to the territorial
group. Such guilds and what naught typically have charters, but these
are not technically necessary. Depending upon specific arrangements,
this may result in regular reporting to the SCA hierarchy.
Your Humble Servant
- Of possible interest is the film "Life of Oharu (Saikaku ichidai onna)." It unfortunately is not currently available on DVD, but you may be able to rent the VHS version.
If you aren't weeping copiously into your sleeves over this one you have no soul.
