Group Description

The purpose of the Sand Creek History Group is to establish a place to gather the history of and share information related to the Sand Creek Massacre, November 29, 1864 in Colorado. All intelligent and respectful points of view are welcome, however, this group is founded in honor of the victims of Sand Creek, and the Cheyenne and Arapaho people, such as Black Kettle, Ochinee, and Neva and Fort Lyon officers, Wynkoop, Soule, and Cramer, the William Bent family, and Col. Samuel F. Tappan, who set aside past offenses and joined together in search of peace before and after Sand Creek.

Feel free to share thoughts, links, information, and resources. In the links section there are links to wonderful resources available on the internet. Add your name to the contact database and list your special interests if you'd like. In the files section I've started a bibliography, which I will continue to add to as I gather up the appropriate citations of materials I've been using. Each of you feel free to add your own, as well.

Remember, we are here to share information, so do not add something you are not ready and/or willing to share.
