Group Description

Welcome to the Yahoo email group for the Saguaro NTS Net. We meet nightly at 6:30 P.M. (1830 hrs) on the EAARS repeaters (www.eaars.org), reaching throughout Eastern Arizona into new Mexico! The primary web site for Saguaro NTS is www.saguaroNTS.net. Yahoo serves our email & many resource files are still stored here.

Our purpose is to relay radiogram message traffic within the United States and outside the U.S. wherever Third-Party Traffic is permitted. Radiogram message text is 25 words or less and ranges from birthday and holiday greetings to keep-in-touch messages. In an emergency, NTS operators handle Health & Welfare traffic to/from disaster areas in the USA and to/from other countries, wherever third-party traffic is permitted.

We are affiliated with the Arizona Traffic & Emergency Net (ATEN), an HF voice net on 3986 KHz (80 meters) at 7:00 P.M. (1900 hours) daily (www.atenaz.net). Some Saguaro NTS members utilize Pactor and other modes, and connect with other wide-area HF nets and the Golden Bear Net (California).

Pink, K7ILA, and Bill, KC7ZZ, started Saguaro NTS after Field Day in June 2009, to facilitate traffic handling over two-meter amateur radio frequencies. Thanks to the Radio Society of Tucson (Randy, KF0X, in particular) for encouraging us to start the net on K7RST. We moved to the wide-area EAARS network in March 2010, and utilize K7OEM, -146.880 (110.9 PL), as our alternate. Saguaro NTS remains on two-meters, voice, to enable hams with any level of amateur radio license to participate. Our only requirement is that members hold a valid amateur radio license. Pink, K7ILA, now manages the net with Dick, W0PZD, as assistant manager, and Byron, AA7BM, as training manager. We welcome all ham radio operators from inside and outside the Arizona area. 73!
