      Midtown Bike Share:

On Monday, May 23rd, the Midtown Business Association unveiled Midtown Bike Share, an automated public and membership system that offers bicycles for rent from kiosks per hour or per day. Along with the recently started Zipcar car-sharing program that also is available in Midtown, this bike share program is a key step in the greening of Sacramento and the shift towards being a more walkable and bike-friendly city.

The bike share concept has been exploding in popularity in major cities worldwide, and the Midtown pilot will make Sacramento the first city with bike share on the West Coast. The pilot program includes two bike rental kiosks/vaults and 12 bikes, and will last approximately six months. The kiosks are located in the parking lots at 28th and J Streets and at 16th and J Streets.  If the pilot program is a success, additional kiosk/vaults will be placed throughout Midtown and the Central City.

For more information about the Midtown Bike Share visit www.mbasac.com or contact Heather Philpott at 916.442.1500 or heather@...
