The Department of Politics and International Relations is seeking to
appoint a full-time fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in association with St Hilda's College in Comparative Government and Politics (including
Russia or the Former Soviet Union). This subject area broadly includes
the study of political behaviour, political institutions and regime
types. While no specific regional focus is required, a research and
teaching specialisation that includes Russia or the Former Soviet Union
would be an advantage. This is a fixed-term appointment commencing 1
      September 2013 for 2 years.
The main duties of the post will be to engage in advanced research in comparative government and politics; to direct the subject of politics
and tutor undergraduates at St Hilda's College; to contribute to
Departmental teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and graduate level; to participate in College and Departmental administration; and to
contribute to the examining and admissions processes as necessary.
Office space and other facilities will be provided in the Department
of Politics and International Relations. The postholder will be
      affiliated with St Hilda's College.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a relevant subject
area and will have a strong record of independent research and
publication at an international level. The ability to provide excellent
class and tutorial teaching to high-achieving and challenging students
is essential. The postholder will require good communication,
      interpersonal, pastoral and organisational skills.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon (UK time) on Thursday 23 May 2013.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online, quoting reference 107563.
