"Tunisian Rugs and Textiles," a Textile Museum RTAM
- Dear folks –
Bill and Sondra Bechhoefer gave a Rug and Textile Appreciations program on "Tunisian Rugs and Textiles, on March 28, 2009.
As I say again in the post being announced here, this program was of special interest because Bill and Sondra lived in Tunisia for some time and can speak to its culture, history, and to the attribution and provenance of its weavings with more confidence than most of us can manage.
This post has two parts. First Bill's lecture, with a large number of images, and then, an examination of pieces that the Bechhoefers and members of the audience had brought in.
You can reach these two posts by clicking on the link immediately below or by copying the link and pasting it into your browser.
This link takes you to an “about” page on my blog. The posts being announced are the first two in red in the column on the right.
There are over 130 images in the lecture post, so you may have to be a bit patient while it loads. (Some may have to use the "right click; show image" strategy to get some images to show.)
My thanks to the Bechhoefer's for permitting this virtual version of their interesting program, for access to, and use of, a PowerPoint CD that gave me Bill's lecture notes and images, and for the considerable subsequent editorial assistance they have both provided.
You are receiving this email because you are on one of my lists of “ruggies.” If you would prefer not to receive future announcements about such posts, please contact me at and I will remove your name from my listings.
I do not permit direct comments in this blog, and do not particularly encourage any, but if you have something that you feel is useful to share, you can send it to me at the email address above, with your permission to quote you should I decide to publish it.
I hope you enjoy this virtual version of a recent, and noteworthy, Textile Museum RTAM program.
