      Greetings!

Attached to this message and available soon on the conference website (www.esf.edu/NERR) is the preliminary schedule for the 2009 NERR Symposium.  The Symposium is being held once again at the beautiful Sagamore Resort in upstate NY on March 29-31.  Check the schedule to find out where your paper, poster, roundtable, etc. fits into the broader conference program.  This year’s Keynote Address will be given on Sunday night by Bob Krumenaker, Superintendent of The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore (Bayfield, WI), who has become one of the leading experts on climate change and its implications for park and recreation resource planning and management.  And our annual founder’s forum talk will be given during the lunch meeting on Monday by Deb Kerstetter of Penn State, who will share her views on what NERR has come to mean to her and our profession.

This message is going to all first authors that submitted an abstract.  So please forward this message to your co-authors and colleagues at your university or agency.

General Information.  The Sagamore Resort is located on the west bank of Lake George in Bolton Landing, NY (about an hour north of Albany, NY).  Arriving to the conference is convenient by flying to Albany and renting a car or reserving the Sagamore’s shuttle for a fee.

Symposium Registration.  The symposium registration form is available at:  www.esf.edu/nerr (click on the Pre-registration link).  All presenters are expected to register. Note that the early registration deadline is March 20, 2009.  To encourage family participation, spouses are invited to attend all symposium events (including meal functions) for a reduced rate of $115. Individual meal tickets can also be purchased.  Students are encouraged to apply to be a Student Registration Helper by February 2, 2009 for a reduced rate and conference training and experience (for details see the Student Registration Waivers link).

Hotel Reservations.  Reservations for resort accommodations can be made on-line, by fax, or mail. The Sagamore’s online registration website is www.thesagamore.com (Group Code #51G8GR). If you prefer to mail or fax your reservation, a reservation form is available on the NERR symposium website. The Symposium rate is available until February 22, 2009 (this is earlier than previous years). For questions about lodging, call The Sagamore at 1-800-358-3585.

The 2009 NERR Symposium promises to be a rewarding experience for researchers and practitioners alike. If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me by email (klenosky@...)  or by phone at 765-494-0865.  Thanks and travel safe!
