      Happy New Year!

The Tourism Commission of the International Geographical Union are organizing two back-to-back tourism meetings in Japan for Summer 2013.

Deadlines for abstract submissions are this month (January 2013).

IGU Conference Kyoto, Japan, 4-9 August 2013
      Deadline for abstract: January 15th

Our Tourism Commission is organizing a broad range of sessions.

      IGU Tourism Commission Pre-congress, Beppu-Miyajima-Okayama, 31 July to 4 August 2013
      Deadline for abstract: January 31st

This is a combination field trip and conference.

For the main conference, the following accommodation option (bookable through the accommodation system of the Conference) is reasonably priced and well located, so it might be a good idea for tourism researchers to stay there: Mitsui Garden Hotel Sanjo (there are two Mitsui Garden Hotels, this one is closer to transportation to the conference venue).

If you are a group, you might consider booking a traditional Kyoto Townhouse (machiya); you will find several options when you look for "Kyoto machiya".

Looking forward to see you in Japan!
