            Apakah kita bisa mengukur ketinggian suatu obyek dari citra Ikonos yang sudah OrthoImage ? Kalau bisa bagaimana caranya yaa?

              Secara teoretis (meskipun ini bukan merupakan prosedur
              baku dalam ilmu pemetaan) sebetulnya bisa. Caranya, dg
              mengetahui waktu dan posisi matahari pada saat
              pengambilan citra, kita dapat menghitung beda tinggi
              suatu obyek (misal menara). Akan tetapi, informasi ini
              tidak akan memberikan informasi berapa tinggi puncak
              menara tsb terhadap suatu bidang referensi tinggi yang
              baku (misalnya mean sea level), hanya puncak menara
              terhadap dasar menara. Ada beberapa institusi yg
              pernah meneliti ini, di antaranya yg saya tahu adalah
              Remote Sensing Centernya National University of
              Singapore (saya lupa nama lembaganya yg bener).

              Tapi menurut kaidah-2 ilmu pemetaan, kita tidak bisa
              mengukur ketinggian obyek dari sebuah orthoimage
              karena yg dimaksud tinggi obyek adl tinggi terhadap
              mean sea level tadi. Yg dapat dilakukan adalah sbb.
              Unt menghasilkan sebuah citra orto selalu dilakukan
              proses ortorektifikasi dg bantuan data DEM. Unt
              menghasilkan ortho image skala 1:5,000 s/d 1:15,000
              mungkin diperlukan data DEM dg kerapatan 5 meter.
              Celakanya data DEM ini pada umumnya enggak diberikan
              bersama-2 dg data ortho image yg kita pesan. Kalau
              Anda dapat memperoleh data DEM ini (tentu saja harus
              yg reliable), maka barulah Anda dapat melakukan
              pengukuran tinggi obyek seperti yg Anda inginkan.

              Caranya, Anda meng-create apa yg dinamakan stereomate
              (simulasi image dg parallax-x) sebagai citra
              pasangannya (biasanya unt yg sebelah kanan) dg bantuan
              data citra orto yg asli dan DEM tadi. Nah, gunakanlah
              ortho image yg asli sebagai citra sebelah kiri, dan
              stereomate unt yg kanan, dan pakailah "any" digital
              photogrammetric workstation, maka Anda dapat
              mengekstrak semua data ketinggian obyek yg ada pada
              citra tersebut. Tentu saja akan terjadi beberapa
              interpolasi karena data DEM kita kan hanya punya
              kerapatan 5 meter.

              Harus hati2 tentu saja dalam mengakses seberapa jauh
              informasi ketinggian yg Anda inginkan (i.e.
              ketelitiannya). Selamat mencoba.
