Group Description

This group has been established to share information about tools useful to people creating imaginary worlds and using them for storytelling, writing, roleplaying or wargaming. This includes (but isn't limited to) mapping, terrain generation, cultural design, story creation, character management, text management, city mapping, economic modelling, campaign management, module publishing and visualisation.

This group currently seems to be an announcement and question area so don't expect a lot of activity. Of course if you'd like to start some discussion feel free. I intend to if I ever get time.

Annoucements of commercial rpg products and services are allowed, but only under a certain set of guidelines. These are defined in a file called PostingGuidelines.txt in the [Group Rules] folder of the group's Files section. Failure to follow these rules can result in your subscription being immediately terminated so if you're not sure email rpg-tools-owner@yahoogroups.com and check.

If you are developing a tool also note that the rpg-tooldev group exists to discuss the nitty-gritty details of data transfer, standards, development languages, etc.

Of course we're also going to get questions relating to very specific issues such as "How do I get my terrain map out of Paint Shop Pro?" or "What do I use to convert a bmp to a wmf?". These questions are also valid and over time I intend to collect a FAQ to provide coverage of these subjects.

It's a blurred set of lines and I think we'll have to develop rules over time depending on the message volumes we get.
