Greetings and Salutations,
I had my 1995 Giant Iguana mountain bike setup with a Xtracycle by my favorite shop "The Bike Lane" in Burke, VA. The owner Todd has a Surly Big Dummy(my dream bike at this point) and let my wife, daughter and I try it...we were sold on the Xtracycle idea, so a couple weeks later my bike tech Jay, had finished it. Today I road it down to the target for a few items...its just a few miles away at the Springfield mall. I got alot of compliments, bought some stuff...packed up and road back home. I love it...the feel is awesome, I am pretty heavy, but didn't feel any flex...the only thing I noticed was that it is alot harder to ride no handed.
I work in DC which is 19.8 miles away...I can ride it one way, and almost able to make it the full 39.6 mile round trip, but don't have the ability to do it day after day yet....I need a day or two recoop, trying to be as car free as I can...this week I am getting a "stoker bar" setup for my daughter...she is super excited. I am also going change the handle bars on it...I liked that low bar feel when was 22 blasting on single tracks...but I am now 35 and many commuting and not a fan of it for riding my commute. I am going to either get an H-Bar or a riser bar...something to alow me to ride more upright like my K2 comfort cruiser.
