My kids rode on the back of my Xtra since they were 3 yrs old
The setup was like this:
I made a new snapdeck out of plywood, placed a thin layer of high
density foam and covered it with leather. Then after installing a stoker
bar, I bent some aluminum tubes and made that rail. I guess now you have
the Hooptie, so it's a more straightforward solution, although more
expensive. Now that they are 6 and 8 yrs old, I've removed the rail -
they can hop on / hop off without me braking my back to pull them out :-P
PS. They could grab themselves quite well when they were 3, even without
the rail... but my wife didn't feel safe watching them like that...
that's why I came up with that solution (not my idea - I saw a picture
somewhere of a similar rail... I asked her if she would accept that I
would carry them like that, and she agreed - the Hooptie was not
available at that time)

We want to set her up on the back of x but would like to hear recommendations first about best accessories. We mainly do commute to Childcare on a bike path in sunny ( well today was) Melbourne Australia
