      Shimano has finally released the data sheet on the new Shimano Alfine SG-S700 11 speed IGH for those who might be interested in it for a IGH cargo bike. Looking at the ratios it appears to me to be aimed at the touring bike rider and MTB rider more than the usual IGH city and commuting bike user.

      Like the Nexus 7 speed it is an all indirect drive hub without a unity drive ratio. Fifth gear is closest to unity at a ratio of .995. Jumps between ratios are 13% to 14% except for the first gear to second gear jump which is about 29%. This means first is basically a granny or bailout gear with very linear jumps between the rest of the gears.
