I've been working quite a bit on the earliest written form of 'Rienench' (last paragraph). One of the first official texts to contain Old Rienench rather than Latin (and also Old French) were the Oaths of Strasbourg. Orthography of the O.R. text is, as far as possible, the same as for Old High German except i have used <v> and <j> to make it a little easier to read (would otherwise be <u> and <i>). If you are interested to compare with the *real* texts (Old High German and Old French) see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oaths_of_Strasbourg.

"Pru Tjisu amori ezz pru si chrisctiani poblu ezz nostru commun saluz, te irti tjiei i abant, i quandu mihi Tju sepjindi ezz pozzer tunt, selvu irt meu trater, sihhuz homo cu tieriectu su trater tebt, uz le me mizzim tact, ezz ab Lutiru i nulli core nu vatu, si mia volundazzi se uz nocer tiz."

Not looked at the modern form of Rienench in great deal (i think its going to need a lot more analogous levelling and so on) but a quick stab at the MR version

Not looked at the modern form of Rienench in great deal (i think its going
to need a lot more analogous levelling and so on) but a quick stab at the MR
version of the OR oath below gives me:

Pru sie Amer te Tschu eß pru sie christtschane Poble eß nostre a zuß tue
Saluß, te irte Tschie tehörbant, iequande mihe Tschu Saber eß Posser ieplu
tunt, selfe jo irt meu Trater, seichs home kuh Tierickte sü Trater tebt,
prequi le mihe see missim tackt, eß kuh Luter ie näul sul Kör nu inremelvat,
sie mja Volundassi se uß nocker lascher tiß.

Which I think looks quite interesting. Looks very nice in a tradditional
Fraktur font, which unfortunately I can't post on here.

        Any thoughts/comments eagerly recieved.
