Group Description

Rollators, also known as “walkers” in the United States, were invented in Sweden, CIRCA early 1930s. Rollators are four wheel mobility devices designed to help the disable and elderly mitigate balance and strength issues when performing everyday activities.

The Rollator-Walker Mobility Forum’s mission is to support individuals in the purchase and use of rollators. The goal is to help individuals stay vertical and engaged in work and play.

Top quality rollators are designed and manufactured in Scandinavian countries. The exception to this rule is Dana Douglas, an award winning Canadian company now part of Human Care LLC. By the way, Dolomite is now owned by Invacare. The best of breed manufacturers to consider are:

* Access Mobility AS (Active Walker)
* E.S. Lahtinen Oy (aka ELSA - various models)
* ETAC (Avant, Tango and Uno)
* Human Care LLC (Fellow Classic and Parade, and Infinity 500)
* Invacare (Dolomite Symphony and Soprano)
* Samhall (various models)
* Volaris (S2, S3 and S7)

In the USA, most medical equipment stores sell cheap Asian knockoffs and lack even the basic knowledge to advise individuals on the purchase and use of a rollator, so you are on your own. This is why the Rollator-Walker Mobility Forum was created!

Tom Welch is the owner/moderator of this forum and was featured in a New York Times article titled “A Different Set of Wheels”. Tom is available for media interviews concerning the use of rollators. For a quick response, send email to TW78216@Yahoo.Com. In addition, Tom evaluates rollators, email for more information.

Note: The rollator pictured is a Fellow Classic designed, manufactured by Human Care LLC. Thank you Peter Lindquist and Jerry Manderhjelm for the use of this image. The Fellow Classic was originally sold in the United States as the Lunar, about 25,000 were sold. A quality rollator offers long-term durability and is a solid investment for your family.
