      David,
You're absolutely right about Pirana. They were huge fans of BS&T --
they dragged me along with them to see the band at the Sydney
Showgrounds in '71, I think. By then, their affection for Santana had
begun to fade ... they were sick of the comparisons. They were into
all kings of fusion, with Stan and Tony taking the lead into
      jazz-rock
territory. However, their appeal as a live draw was the percussive
Latin-styled fusion, and it overwhelmed their other efforts.
      Greg.

        Tim,
Good grief! Fancy meeting you here after all these years! I'm glad
there are people still out there who remember Pirana (like me, you
probably remember most of them as far back as The Nomads}. Actually,
I'm not at all amazed that Tony Hamilton has kept abreast of
        technique
developments. I remember him as an incredibly eager, fast and
        dextrous
        player.
From the correspondence in this room, I see you're still making a
great and powerful noise. Good on you. Next time I'm in Oz, I'll make
it a point to drop in on a gig.
        Greg.

          Hello Duncan,
Thanks, I'll have a look at the Pirana page and get
          back.

Yes, my first contact with Pirana was when the boys
were still "The Nomads". We changed the name shortly
after, I believe to reflect a different line up and
style. We saw and kept in contact with Gus, and indeed
Gus was the exec producer on the first Pirana album. I
havn't spoken to Gus now for about five years, but
over the years we have caught up ocassionally.
I believe I was the keyboards on Greg Quills album, I
remember going into the studio with him, but how much
I did I can't remember, as its a long time ago now.

I have some memorabilia of Pirana, photo's etc, so
I'll scan anything of interest and put it on my site
on the net. I'll give you the link when it's done.
I do a little website design work etc. these days, as
          well as music.

          Cheers
          Stan White.
