      NSW PAYS TRIBUTES TO GIBBS

The NSW state premier Bob Carr last week unveiled a plaque at the three
bedroom house they stayed at in their teen days - at 171 Bunnerong Road,
Maroubra. The inscription reads, "The Bee Gees - Barry, Robin and
Maurice, along with their younger brother Andy Gibb - lived here between
1963 and 1966. The band was formed in 1958, signed its first record
contract in 1963 in Sydney, and became the most successful musical act
      in Australian history."

Also at the unveiling were promoter brothers Col Joye and Kevin Jacobsen
who discovered the trio and maintain close ties with them. Joye and Carr
did an impromptu guitar jam in front of the Delgado family, who lived at
the house for ten years and are in the process of selling it for about
      $800,000.

Ironically in the same week, Barry and Robin, in London collecting their
Commanders Of The British Empire (CBEs) medals from Prince Charles at a
ceremony in Buckingham Palace, announced that the Bee Gees broke up when
brother Maurice died last year after suffering a heart attack during
emergency surgery in Miami for an intestinal blockage.

Among ten other heritage sites considered by the NSW government for
plaques, are the home of late rocker Johnny O'Keefe and the Tenterfield
birthplace of singer songwriter Peter Allen.
