You're invited to the next meeting of the Republican Club of Central
Palm Beach County even if you are not a member. Visitors are welcome
beginning at 6 PM for a social period including a drink from the bar
and hors d'oeuvres, the meeting comes to order at 6:30 PM and the
speaker comes on after just a few announcements. Admission is $12.
This month's speaker is John Smith, who will be making the case for a
local Taxpayer's Bill of Rights, which would limit government spending
according to a simple formula taking into account inflation and
population growth. This is a big deal in an era of expanding real
estate values and, hence, government revenues.
John R. Smith is the Chairman of BIZPAC, which is the county-wide
business community's political action committee. BIZPAC recruits,
endorses, and supports political candidates who are business-friendly.
He also serves on the county's Republican Party Board of Directors. He
sits on the Boards of Florida TaxWatch and the Associated Industries
of Florida. He is a former Chairman of the Economic Council of Palm
Beach County, Chairman of the Palm Beach County Cultural Council,
Chairman of the Business Federation of Palm Beach County, and Chairman
of the Business Alliance of Palm Beach County.
