They need at least 3' from the rear wall and about 4' from the side wall to really perform. They're also crazy efficient at 96db so a good quality SET would be a perfect match for them.

If I can get a couple few people who may be interested to nail down a time, possibly next weekend or the weekend after; I can throw some meat on the smoker and provide some fallin' of the bone ribs, sides, and beer/wine for those who want to attend. I'll also entertain the idea of bringing your own equipment to see how it fairs on my speakers for a little class D vs. Class A, A/B, type comparison.

The 15' open baffle looks similar to the Emerald Physics speakers I heard in Underwood Wally's room at the show. They were some of the better sounding speakers of the show. I just got back into town yesterday. Got routed up to Ohio from Denver for a work thing so it ended up being longer than expected. I'll be in Austin this weekend but I should have some time durring next week. I got my big monoblocks in and they're sounding great. Really controlling the dual 8' drivers of the 8871s nicely. You'll have to come check it out next week as well. I didn't buy any gear at the show but I did get a lot of demo discs and sacds. I got extra demo discs from some big manufacturers-They are mixes of really dynamic music to really put speakers through their paces. I'll throw you some so you can check them out on your new builds.

Since I've last attended an RCAS meeting I've changed a few things up in my listening room. I'm now running an Audio-GD NFB12 DAC/Preamp as well as a freshly built Class D Audio SDS-224 amplifier. I've also recently completed my newest pair of full range cabinets using Mark Audio Alpair 7 Gen3 drivers and I must say, their resolution tops any of my previous full range driver builds, with ease. Another new addition is a pair of 15" Hawthorne Audio Silver Iris coaxial drivers that are mounted on an open baffle. I'd like to share with you guys my personal photo sharing website so you guys can see what I've been up to. I've knocked down a pretty cool stainless steel full range build for a friend of mine as well as built some pretty neat miniature monitors for my office. Here is the website where you can take a look for yourselves. Http://Szaiontz.imgur.com

Almost as a pair of joke speakers that weren't meant to be taken seriously until they commanded your attention with their tonal accuracy and incredible 3-D imaging. I feel I've fully achieved the design goals on this pair of speakers and am thrilled to have them in my collection.

My listening room is small but I can easily move my equipment into the living room to entertain a handful of guests (or individual listening sessions). I'll provide beverages and snacks as well as a medium to play digital files. Those who are interested are encouraged to bring a flash drive with FLAC files or their favorite CD's.
