Hope all RCAS are enjoying the day with friends & family! I have some exciting news for our upcoming July meeting (well I think it's exciting). As members know we our "regular" society meetings are quarterly. However, in between members have conducted meetings, held open house sessions and so forth. In the past few months we have seen an uptick in attendance and also some new members as well. In response to this and several requests last month I am happy to announce a July RCAS meeting will be held. As usual I will need to coordinate with Bjorns and get the official OK, trying for the 3rd Saturday, 20 July. Last month Don gave us a presentation on digital and we all learned more and compared various hi res files with standard rebook files. Very cool. For July, as Luther put it, we will "sample a different audiophile flavor....analog tape". Now before anyone rolls their eyes take a pause.......we are talking about demonstrating some very pricey and rare master audio tapes made by the Tape Project. The current 60th Anniversary issue of Absolute Sound has an interesting article on analog open reel that everyone should read.......and these are some of the referenced tapes. We all know most of the great recordings we enjoy were made on studio open reel machines long before digital appeared....yet how many of us have ever heard anything close to a studio master tape (Alan is excluded from this question ? Luther is really stepping up by providing these rare and expensive tapes for our meeting.....and also will be involved with the presentation. This is another example how our club has progressed with our members being actively involved in each meeting. Needless to say we will be using a very high resolution system to demonstrate these tapes. As we get closer to the meeting I will tell you more details on the equipment we are planning to use.....however, here is a clue: tubes! So, I hope this announcement gets your audiophile blood pumping a little faster. Enjoy the holiday...... John and I look forward to seeing you soon! I will post more info soon and also the pictures from the last meeting. It has been a busy month. Bob
