      Elizabeth F. Futrell

      RICH SQUARE -- Elizabeth Forbes Futrell, 89, died
      Jan. 23, 2002. A
      native of Hertford County, she graduated from Chowan
      College and later
      received a master's degree from East Carolina
      University. She was a
      dedicated teacher and counselor in the Northampton
      and Roanoke Rapids
      school systems.

      Mrs. Futrell was preceded in death by her husband,
      William Claude Futrell
      and four brothers, Luther, Jamie, Ray and Montgomery.
      She is survived by
      her daughters, Camilla F. Wise and husband, Charles
      of Chesapeake, and
      Bettye F. Hamill and husband, Jerry of Enfield, N.C.;
      brother, Edwin T.
      Forbes and wife, Polly, of Murfreesboro, N.C.; four
      grandchildren, Billy
      Sawyer of Philadelphia, Pa., Gina H. Donahoo and
      husband, John of
      Jacksonville, Fla., Chris Sawyer of Chesapeake,
      Claudia L. Hamill of
      Wilson, N.C.; and a great-granddaughter, Libby
      Donahoo of Jacksonville,
      Fla.

      The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
      Forbes, 504 Lakeview
      Drive, Murfreesboro, N.C. A graveside service will be
      conducted by the
      Rev. Wint Hale Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cedar Lawn
      Cemetery, Rich Square.
      The family has requested no flowers and suggests
      memorial contributions
      to Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 814 US Hwy. 158,
      Murfreesboro, NC
      27855. Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth
      Funeral Home in
      Scotland Neck, N.C.
