      It makes plenty of sense.

      For a robust, real world implementation see the PSB (Public Services
      Broker) project from the Irish government (a good starting point is
      the documentation found at http://www.reach.ie/publications/#psb).
      Sean McGrath is heavily involved and has mentioned it and its
      underlying approach numerous times on his blog
      (http://seanmcgrath.blogspot.com/ - look for reach, SOA,
      messaging, decoupling).

      While it is not a full HTTP-based REST implementation (i.e. PUT and
      DELETE are not utilised AFAIK), it does appear to meet the REST
      architectural style criteria.
