School Safety Bill for Ohio
As ALICE instructors in Ohio know we have been working for about a year now on getting Ohio law changed to make things easier for us to conduct realistic training in the schools. The Bill we introduced in the House was amended from what we originally wanted but was passed and has been sent to the Senate.
We are now in the process of setting up meetings with our Senator, Lou Gentile. In meeting with our local school officials we have decided to try and get the bill changed back to more closely reflect what we first proposed.
For those interested I, will post the new language on the Yahoo site. It will be listed as HB 178 as Passed. The original Bill was posted on May 28, 2013 if you want to compare the two.
I anticipate testifying at a Senate Education Committee hearing this summer. I have listed the top members Senate Education Committee below. If you are in one of these districts or have contact with these members please put in a good word for us. Actually, contacting your senator no matter what district you are in would be helpful.
