Mimi, I have been a very silent member of this group for years and it seems as if lately you are the only one who has publicized anything of RR work and you have always been kind and respectful to anything you have ever posted about him.  I will certainly miss your updates and I am so sorry for all you have been through.

I know that some of you  might be wondering what is happening to me... Friday night, on Facebook, I had a little conversation with Robert Redford on a Facebook page dedicated to Bob, a page I helped someone administer. RR  even invited me to be his friend! It was like a dream! I am 62, and lead a very quiet life with my dog. That was quite the excitement! So I sent him a "Friend request" and sent one to Jamie too (as Jamie had also posted on the page). Jamie and I kept sending each other messages on our pages, and it was great! I had never talk to either of them. Jamie seemed to like me. I was like in a dream. I have been a Redford fan for so long! Of course, my dog Tasha didn't understand any of it!

 

Anyway, I noticed on Saturday night that Bob had closed his page; then Jamie announced he was closing his. I was wondering what triggered this until ... The other administrator on the page removed me as an administrator, and even removed me as a user! I was really really upset. I sent her numerous emails asking for an explanation, but she never answered me. Finally, on Saturday night, I called her (we were supposed to be 'friends always' ...). I was in tears... She confirmed that she was blocking me from her site and would not tell me why. 

 

Then, I realized what the reason was. I went to Toronto a few years ago to hear Bob talk. I had found tickets on eBay and they cost $300! I know I was being s…., but my friend and I really wanted to go. Well, my friend decided she was not going after all. So I ended up with an extra ticket. When I arrived in Toronto, I went to the venue, and told the people selling tickets that I had one for sale (in the first row!) and told them the story… I guess someone decided that if I paid that much money, I must be a « crazy stalker ». I had a security guard beside me the entire show (I didn’t know until after the show), and this guy kept trying to "fire me up"; I thought he was weird, and was disappointed by the talk (the interviewer was terrible. After the show, about 30 "older by wiser" ladies gathered at the back. Well they would not let us within at least 50 feet from where RR was to come out. I thought it was strange, but eventually forgot about all this. I wrote a little article in the RedBook, then I forgot all about it.

 

SO, Saturday, Bob’s security must have realized it was me talking to Bob and Jamie, and decided I was (still?) dangerous. I know it is ludicrous, but since I was not aware of this 'situation", I had never done anything to rectify it. Bob and Jamie closed their page and told the other administrator to remove me from OUR page. It would be funny if I was't so sad.  I can’t even kill a fly…  literally! The other administrator knew me very well but as brown-nosers can be, I am sure she never even attempted to defend me. I know this may sound almost unreal in these days and age, but I guess Bob’s security staff have to justify their salary.  Instead of acting discreetly, they accused, condemned and punished me without even  telling me. I am so sad about all this, and,as  most of you would do, I had a heck of a cry.  I was a huge fan of RR, but certainly not a crazy one.  I am a passionate person (I’m French!), but I am very sane and a very peaceful person, and this is a terrible accusation.  I am usually a forgiving person, but this is too unfair.

 

So I am trying to get as far as possible from RR now. He is the one hurting meand I was such a nice and dedicated fan… It's his loss. I have many other interests, and I never want to talk about this stupid thing anymore.  The dream weekend that ended in a nightmare. 

 

I would like to thank all the marvelous people that have accompanied me all these years of "craziness". I have met very good friends f rom around the world through RR forums. Some of them were as "crazy" as I was, and we had countless conversations  about RR  like we were teenagers again! This was fun and helped me tremendously as I was taking care if my sick parents at the time.
