By Phillip Koch, The Sunday Tasmanian
ACTOR Rebecca Gibney has become a virtual prisoner in her Tasmanian
home after being targeted by paparazzi - because she is pregnant.
"As a first-time expectant mother, she is now too worried to venture
outdoors on her own property - isn't showbiz glamorous?" said her
agent Jillian Bowen.
Gibney, 39, is due to give birth to a baby boy within the next month
and is spending the final stages of her pregnancy at home on her
Tamar Valley property with her artist husband Richard Bell.
The actor and Foxtel presenter sent the Sunday Tasmanian a
photograph of herself pregnant during the week to try to prevent
paparazzi stalking her at home.
"Rebecca is deeply distressed by this information for two reasons,"
Ms Bowen confirmed in an e-mail to selected media.
"The first is that the only way to get such a photograph would be by
trespassing on her property.
"The second is that her home is quite distinctive, and publication
of any photos containing her home would enable just about anyone
familiar with the area to know exactly where she lives - which poses
a safety risk for her."
Gibney, who is a face of Foxtel and the star of the Halifax FP drama
series, has chosen a name for her son but is keeping it a secret.
"They want to surprise everyone," explained Ms Bowen, who said
Gibney would also star in the Network Ten telemovie Small Claims
later this year.
