Outta de Blue 5
- Get ready for Outta de Blue 5
National Calypso Monarch and Road March champion Shadow is one of two
premier calypsonians appearing at QRC Foundation's Outta de Blue 5,
the most eagerly anticipated all-inclusive charity fetes, which takes
on Saturday, January 17, at the College grounds in St Clair. Shadow,
"Whop Cocoyea" and "Horner Man Crying" have taken off like an Ariane
rocket, will share the guest spotlight with veteran performer Johnny
to deliver a combination of contemporary and vintage hits. This
edition of Outta de Blue features big brass band music from Atlantik
(featuring Destra and Ronnie Mc Intosh) and Bobby Quan's legendary
Ventures, with front line singers Sidney Wellington, KV Charles, Lima
Calbio and former Road March "queen" Sanell Dempster.
In keeping with The Foundation's pledge to include pan music in every
it stages, the formidable Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars have again
retained by strong public demand. In addition, PCS Starlift will
their debut at Outta de Blue 2K4, and Worldwide is back for the
Jouvert-style jump up around the college's sprawling playfield.
George maintains his position as provider of pre-packaged calypso
jams. Tickets for Outta de Blue 5 cost $300 and may be had from any
of the committee or by calling Queen's Royal College. Foundation
Ainsley Mark predicts another year of merriment and assures more
management of catering to avoid glitches in those services.
