Monday: April 9th at 7:00 PM
      Rogalski Center, St. Ambrose University

The Biology Department is pleased to announce that Dr. Tyrone Hayes will be giving the Hauber address on April 9th at 7 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Rogalski Center.

Dr. Hayes is well-known for his research on atrazine, a widely used herbicide in the United States.  He has collected data along the I-80 corridor and has discovered that atrazine is a potent endocrine disruptor that feminizes exposed male amphibians.  These effects were observed in doses as low as .1 parts per billion (levels 30 times below the federally established safe level in drinking water).

In addition to his fascinating research, Dr. Hayes will provide the audience with his journey from undergraduate student to the youngest professor of Integrative Biology at UC Berkeley.  He has published more than 40 papers in journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and his work has been promoted by National Geographic and Discover magazines.
