Senator Jeffords Will Not Seek Re-Election in 2006

      Washington, D.C. - April 20, 2005

Vermont Senator Jim Jeffords will not seek re-election
      next year.

The Independent Senator made national headlines four
years ago when he left the Republican party because of
      disagreements with the Bush Administration.

The 70 year-old Jeffords has been adamant in saying he
will seek re-election, but there have been increasing
concerns about his health in recent weeks.

A press conference is scheduled for one o'clock this
      afternoon in South Burlington.
