Pat Toomey Brings GOP Senate Gains To Five
      November 3, 2010
      by FRANK JAMES

Republican Pat Toomey has completed his political journey to the U.S. Senate. First he managed to get to Arlen Specter to actually become a Democrat, again, by scaring out of the Republican primary.

Now the conservative has defeated Rep. Joe Sestak, the man who beat Specter in the Democratic primary.

Toomey had a narrow, several-point lead in the polls running up to Election Day. And his win was indeed narrow, a two-percentage point margin with 99 percent of the vote counted.

Toomey served three terms in the House. He was also president of the Club for Growth which favors the flat tax, Social Security privatization and deregulation.
