Yesterday it was reported that he was talking and
      "providing information to Syrian security
authorities," but today now that he's dead Syrian
authorities are saying they were unable to question
      him. Seems rather mysterious.

4th gunman in Syria embassy attack dies

By BASSEM MROUE, Associated Press Writer 13 minutes

DAMASCUS, Syria - The only Islamic militant arrested
in the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Damascus has died
from his wounds, and authorities were unable to
question him, a Syrian official and the government
      media said Wednesday.

The man, who was shot as he fled an explosives-laden
truck without detonating it, died in a hospital
Tuesday, said an official, who spoke on condition of
anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to
      the media.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A gunman captured during an attack
on the US embassy in Damascus has been cooperating
with Syrian authorities, a senior US official said.

Syrian Interior Minister Bassam Abdel Majid told US
charge d'affaires Michael Corbin that the attacker was
      "providing information to Syrian security
authorities," but it was not immediately known who was
behind the assault, State Department Spokesman Tom
      Casey said.
