      He was a popular President because he truly believed the "Middle Way"
      approach to guide the country and the world after seeing what the
      extremists have done to the innocents in the second World War. Can you
      imagine a "Bush Interstate System" or Bush appointing an Earl Warren
      or a Bill Brennan to the Supreme Court? Not before Dick Cheney is
      raptured!

      Clinton claimed to be an "Eisenhower Republican" for a good reason -
      he was, after all, the famous "Middle Way" New Democrat icon. Ike
      never believed in extremism, that's why his contemporaries (i.e. the
      moderate and liberal Republicans) like Gov. Harold Stassen (R-MN) and
      Sen. Herbert Lehman (R-NY) lamented the right-wing takeover of the GOP
      right before and during the Civil Rights Movement:
