      A common way to get advice on issues and matters of technique or marketing
      or any area in which advice is needed by a professional is to seek the in
      house admonishment of ones peers as well as the advice of those outside
      ones home institution. Web design is one such area and issues like
      optimizing a website designed to attract freshman to ones college is
      certainly a critical area for a web designer to consult with others to
      maximize the effectiveness of their efforts. Professionals such as web
      designers may be wise, in addition to seeking peer review of their
      efforts, to have a look at what literature has been generated in journals,
      the trade press and magazines that speaks to the issue that concerns them
      such as the issue of optimizing web design on web pages aimed at
      recruiting college freshmen to attend the university for which they design
      websites and web pages.

      These are examples of sources cited in Google Scholar that speak to issues
      of attracting freshmen to a college that may help with web design
      improvements through a better understanding of what goes into attracting
      those freshman, webwise and otherwise.

      Now if we can do this with good old Google Scholar, can one imagine what
      might happen if those expensive and powerful databases were brought to
      bear on a literature that helps find ideas and evalutates methods on the
      internet of providing freshman recruiting content in article discussions
      that either directly or by principles learned helps produce better design
      ideas and techniques?

      The above is just an example of the sources that may be found through the
      tools and resources that the libraries at ones home academic institution
      acquires and promotes for the use of the academic and employee communities
      of the institution. One should always seek the personal advice and
      assessments of their peers in their home and at other institutions, but
      their peers and others also publish excellent content in peer reviewed,
      academic and trade journals for the edification of all who read these
      publications. Libraries provide access to tools that find this content
      and in many cases make the full text of at least some that is found either
      in print in the library or online in databases that may be used by the
      members of that academic community anywhere in the world.


      Databases and databanks, not unlike internet search engines, are not
      without need for improvement and the professionals who use them should
      contact providers to suggest those improvements in software or addition of
      resources covered and indexed by these tools.
