Group Description

The UK-SouthEastEurope Forum is a two-year British Council regional programme run jointly by offices in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo (UN Administration), Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro.

The UK-SouthEastEurope Forum aims to build alliances between the next generation of leaders from the UK and the countries in Southeast Europe, and within SEE itself.

The UK-SouthEastEurope Forum will contribute towards creating future advocates for the UK and for the countries of SEE in an enlarged European Union.

People and Politics is one of three strands of activity under the UK-SouthEastEurope Forum, whose aim is in achieving better cooperation between the future political leadership of the United Kingdom and the SEE countries in the context of the increasing disaffection of national electorates with existing political processes.

Our objectives are:
- to build new and sustainable links between the next generation of political leadership in the United Kingdom and the countries of South East Europe, and within South East Europe itself;

- to increase understanding in the United Kingdom and across the region of each other's political cultures and processes, and of the political culture and processes of the European Union;

- to examine, develop and pilot practices and mechanisms that promote participation and more open and accountable government.
