Will the Australian Potter's House Survive?
- In recent events, Wayman O. Mitchell, head of the U.S. Potter's House has forced the resignation of David Vicary, head of the Australian Potter's House. According to the information available, Pastor Mitchell demanded Pastor Vicary's resignation, and when Pastor Vicary and his church council refused that demand, Pastor Mitchell used coercion to get the church council to ask for Pastor Vicary's resignation as well. At that point, Pastor Vicary resigned. Pastor Mitchell himself, at least for the moment, is now pastoring the Perth Potter's House. There have been reports of the loss of up to 200 people in the attendance.
What has come into play is Pastor Vicary opening an independant church in the same vicinity as the Perth Potter's house. Having his first service on Sunday, February 1st, it has been reported that Pastor Vicary has had over 200 people in attendance, reflecting the loss that the Perth Potter's House has suffered. There have also been reports of pastors pulling out with their churches, or resigning their churches and moving to Perth to attend Vicary's new church. As far as we know, the name of Pastor Vicary's church is "Eternity Church."
The question that might be asked is, "Will the Australian Potter's House survive?" With this much disarray, and this kind of unethical behaviour on the part of the leader of the American Potters House, Pastor Wayman O. Mitchell, will the churches hold together? Will members see what is going on and take this opportunity to leave? Or will Pastor Mitchell, once again, pull the wool over their eyes and rally them against the rebels?
And what of Pastor Vicary? Will he realise that he has been teaching false doctrines for all these years? Will he continue to preach basically the same doctrines which he has for all these years, only without Pastor Mitchell being lifted up as Christ's Apostle? Will he still demand that people pay money in order to secure their salvation? That will be something to watch for.
