      yes - i thought
      but i forgot by clone the logrotate config that on this router
      it should also daily rotate /var/log/maillog which is on
      mailservers in a extra config only active monthly

      my machines have perfect configurations, this was a replacement for
      the list because the hostname does not matter

        I highly recommend ISO dates in log files, they sort properly and
        don't omit the year. If your syslog daemon does not have an ISO
        date option, consider switching to one that does, otherwise simply
        reconfigure.
