Yes, this is expected behavior.
By default subdomains of domains listed in relay_domains are also
relayed. Subdomain matching is controlled by the
parent_domain_matches_subdomain parameter. Remove "relay_domains"
from the default value of parent_domain_matches_subdomains to prevent
