Re: [political-graveyard] My Town Council Re-Election 1723-1707
Thanks! My swearing-in likely is on Monday, November 19Th.,. R.I. State Senator Francis T. "Frank" Maher, Jr., has agreed to swear me in. I need to know the definite date on this. We will have a new town council member David Floyd Husband. He is retired from the journalistic field working for multiple newspapers during his career. As a Republican I swam against the tide. I am the only Republican who won town wide that could have lost. Two Republicans were unopposed for their offices. they sought. One had an opponent that dropped out months ago. Two offices had no candidates running for them.
"Frank" was not lucky last Tuesday, but I am proud to have voted for him. It appears only four Republicans were elected to the R.I. State Senate out of the 38 seat chamber. Three of the four were unopposed.

> I was re-elected to the Hopkinton, Rhode Island; Town Council, 1723-1707,. Check out http://www.ri.gov/election/results/2012/general_election/hopkinton/ ,. I like in 2010 won the last seat of the five available. Then it was two votes now sixteen. I tie a record made in 1966 when another Republican was elected to his sixth term since the town went to two year terms in the mid point of the 20Th Century. We are the only two people elected running as a Republican. Actually three town council members will be Republicans, Frank T. Landolfi and David Floyd Husband who ran as independents.
> A recount could be asked but I expect this to stand. in 2010 on a two Democrats, two independents, and myself the lone Republicans, I voted for the two Democrats to be President and Vice President of the town council in 2010. One of the independents elected in 2010 Jonathan Osbourne, (sp?), think spelling may be correct, had run as a socialist for state senate in 2008,. He resigned his town council seat and was replaced by Frank Landolfi in a special election.
