Elizabeth Whetsel, former OK state Democratic Party Co-chairman (1952-1956), died November 28, 2008 at Blevins Retirement and Care Center in McAlester of respiratory and coronary disease. She was born March 25, 1916 in Indianola to John Alfred, MD and Edith M. (Mill) Eubank. Whetsel rode on Truman's famous whistle stop train tour of the U.S. She was a schoolteacher. Her funeral was at the First Baptist Church, McAlester. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester. Arangements handled by Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester.
