Catherine Baker Knoll "CBK" (D), 1930-2008
- PA Lt. Governor Catherine Knoll died in office November 12, 2008 at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC of neuro-endocrine cancer. She was born September 3, 1930 in McKees Rocks, a suburb of Pittsburgh, to then McKees Rocks' Mayor Nicholas Baker and Teresa May Baker. When she was elected lt. governor in 2003 she became the first woman to hold that post in PA's history. She served two terms as state treasurer from 1988 to1996. Knoll was a former schoolteacher. She will be succeeded by Senate President Pro Tempore Joseph B. Scamati III (R-Jefferson). Her funeral was at St. Paul's Cathedral (RC), Pittsburgh. Private interment.
