to see a new run of the biographical files. Not the final, but pretty
        much there.

Note that the links within those files DO NOT work yet.

There is also a little box at the bottom of each page which stands for the
ctrl-Z -- the files are not Unix text.

Among the new features you will notice: links to occupation listings; many
World War I era U.S. consuls; many more mayors and state legislators; many
more candidates for Congress; many more cross-reference links between law
partners, campaign managers and their candidates, legislative aides and
the people they worked for, etc. Also the diplomats and consuls link to
the country page where they served.

If these pages look okay, I can go ahead and start running a new version
        for real.

PLEASE take a look at some of these and let me know if you find any
        systematic errors, i.e., programming bugs.

I went through about 30 or so pages; everything looked OK to me. Just one
question (if you can stand another on the subject) regarding "still living
as of" - would it be possible to 'tag' certain prominent names so they
would always be listed as still living as of whenever the last updated
version was posted? It just looks odd to see Reagan still living as of
2003, Pres. Bush as of 2002, and Clinton as of 2001. Maybe the most
prominent names (the ones you'd certainly notate immediately after their
death) could be automatically updated this way.

I can't implement that sort of system quickly, but I can do a quick search
and update for prominent still-living folks who should be as of 2003.
(Not in the test version, of course, but in the database which will
              generate the final version.)

Updated to "still living in 2003": Spence Abraham, Madeleine Albright,

Congress, the Supreme Court, and the federal Cabinet.

probably include Governors (primarily the current ones), but that's casting
                        a much wider net.
