All of these were from various prompts from Poetry Super Highway, since April is National Poetry Month, every day had a prompt. I wrote a few poems from these prompts, some I did not. Hope you enjoy ;) .....melanie

      A Child’s Tree

      There’s a big oak
      Outside the little
      Child’s window
      Dreams do exist
      While rocking
      Away on its bough
      Little fingers gently
      Strum over green
      Leaves that adorn
      Each branch and twig
      Holding the brown
      Jewels of an acorn
      Stars twinkle high
      With the smiling
      Moon looking down
      As flows the wind
      Blowing through
      Feeling safe ‘n sound

      The Misfortunate Voyage

      There was a long voyage
      Across a torrential sea
      Raging waves slapped upon
      This vessel with few men

If only the captain did not
      Bring along his beautiful
      Wife, his focus would be
      On commanding the ship

Days and days we few men
      Struggled with rowing against
The tide as the unsettling sea
      Ravished their hopes of land

      A misfortunate event occurred
      The Missus miscarried her unborn
All hopes were buried into the sea
As land fall was nary in sight for all

      Dear Spring Moon

      Oh dear Moon
      So vivid in the
      Deep night sky
      Where have you
      Been to while
      Winter no longer
      Is at nigh
      Spring has welcomed
      Your presence

      Arcturus so beautiful
      With yellow-orange
      And Spica of blue-white
Sit up in the Eastern sky
      Near you, Mr. Moon
      While Big Dipper soon
      Appears nearby all
      Of you while the cool
      Air begins to recede

      I didn’t see it…

But I heard it from near and afar
Chirping from angles around my head
      Tweets and thrrrrrips of sorts
      Sweet and soft sounds instead

Eyes closed and feeling the wind
      Blowing through the rusted screen
Across my brow while it caresses
Felt the gentle coolness in between

Rolling and thudding above my head
Who’s that playing in the attic above?
Dawn’s silence has broken into day
As I hear ‘Good Mornin’ from a dove
